EOP stands for Educational Opportunity Program, which is a counseling and academic support program designed to help low-income and first-generation college students succeed in college. The program is geared towards helping students who may have strenuous circumstances that may hold them back from succeeding throughout their time in college. EOP provides a comprehensive program of support services which include, but are not limited to, recruitment, preadmission counseling, orientation, summer program, diagnostic testing, financial aid follow-up, special admissions, pre-introductory instruction, academic advisement, tutoring, learning skill services, and personal, educational, and career counseling. EOP is offered at all CSU campuses, but each program differs in requirements and deadlines, so students need to call each individual campus to see which steps they need to take to be considered for the program that matches the school they wish to attend. EOP students may receive financial assistance, including grants and waiving or deferring certain fees.
