An Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is a software application that provides a list of television programs that are scheduled to be broadcast on various channels. It is an electronically generated list of content broadcasted by a channel over a certain period of time. By tuning into an EPG channel, a menu is displayed that lists current and upcoming television shows on all available channels. An EPG allows television viewers and radio listeners to navigate scheduling information menus interactively, selecting and discovering programming by time, title, channel, or genre using an input device such as a keypad, computer keyboard, or television remote control. It is best known as a “TV Guide” used for live television services. An EPG makes it easier for users to sort and select their preferred shows with the touch of a button. Today’s paid IPTV services also come with DVR recording features, making it more convenient for busy cord-cutters who don’t want to miss their favorite TV show.
