An equivalent is the amount of an electrolyte that can donate or accept one mole of electrons. The formula for equivalent conductivity is ∧e = K × V, where ∧e is equivalent conductivity, K is specific conductance (reciprocal of specific resistance), and V is the volume in mL that contains 1 g of electrolyte equivalent.

The formula for molar conductivity, on the other hand, requires molarity instead of the concentration of 1 gram equivalent. Molar conductivity is the conductance of all the ions produced by one mole of an electrolyte in a given solution. The formula for molar conductivity is Λm = κ/c, where Λm is molar conductivity, κ is specific conductance, and c is molar concentration.

It is important to note that the equivalent conductivity of an electrolyte at infinite dilution of the solution is equal to the sum of the equivalent conductances of the anions and cations contained in the solution. This is known as Kohlrauschs law of independent migration of ions.
