Escitalopram 10 mg is a medication that belongs to a group of medicines known as antidepressants. It is used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Escitalopram works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain. It is available as a white, round, film-coated tablet. The medication should not be taken with a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor, and it may cause some teenagers and young adults to be agitated, irritable, or display other abnormal behaviors. Escitalopram may also cause some people to have suicidal thoughts and tendencies or to become more depressed.
