Ghana has more than 70 ethnic groups, each with its own distinct language. The six major ethnic groups in Ghana are the Akan, Ewe, Ga-Adangbe, Mole-Dagbani, Guan, and Gurma. The largest tribe in Ghana is the Ashanti, with their traditional capital at Kumasi. The Akan is the most widely spoken language in Ghana, followed by the Mole-Dagbani, Ewe, Ga-Adangbe, and Guan languages. English is the official language and lingua franca of Ghana.
