According to multiple sources, including The New York Times, NBC News, and The Guardian, rapper Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, was sentenced to six years in federal prison on May 24, 2023, for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking scheme. The scheme involved the distribution of more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine across Long Island and New Jersey from June 2019 through June 2020. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs, which carries a mandatory five-year prison sentence. Prosecutors said that Fetty Wap was a member of an organization that shipped narcotics from the West Coast and sold them in New Jersey and Long Island. He was initially arrested in October 2021 on charges of conspiring to smuggle large amounts of heroin, fentanyl, and other drugs into the New York City area. He entered his guilty plea in August 2022 after prosecutors said he threatened to kill a man during a FaceTime call in 2021, violating the terms of his pretrial release in his drug case.
