Fluimucil 600 mg is a mucolytic agent (sputum thinner) used to treat acute (short term) and chronic (long term) respiratory diseases associated with excess mucus. It works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nasal passage, making it easier to cough out phlegm. Fluimucil 600 mg contains Acetylcysteine, which is used in thinning the mucus in respiratory problems. It is prescribed for acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, mucoviscidosis, and bronchiectasis. Fluimucil should not be taken by children under the age of 2 years because mucolytics can cause respiratory obstruction. It is also contraindicated in people with a known hypersensitivity to Fluimucil, acetylcysteine, or any of the inactive ingredients contained in Fluimucil. Fluimucil may not be compatible with certain medications, such as carbamazepine, nitroglycerin, or medications that also irritate the stomach. It is important to inform the doctor if you have any other medical problems, such as asthma, bleeding in the esophagus or stomach, heart failure, high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease. The duration of treatment should be 5 to 10 days in the acute phase and may be continued in the chronic state for several months according to the advice of the physician.
