Gas station heroin is a dangerous and addictive opioid known as tianeptine. It is not actually heroin, but it has similar effects on the brain and is highly addictive and potentially deadly. It is often sold as a dietary supplement under names such as Pegasus, Tianaa, or Zaza Red, and can be found on store shelves in gas stations, convenience stores, and online. Tianeptine is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for any medical use and has been attributed to five deaths nationwide. It is highly addictive and can mimic the effects of opioids. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has recently filed an emergency rule to outlaw gas station heroin in Florida, and tianeptine is now on the Schedule I list of controlled substances in Florida. The drug is also known as ZaZa Red or Neptunes Elixir.
