During the GSL, delegates take turns speaking on topics, ensuring that everyones voice is heard. A GSL speech is a description of a countrys stance on the issues that are to be discussed in the committee. It should generally not be more than 90 seconds, after which the chair may start nagging the speaker to end their speech, and if they continue to ignore that, they might get a warning. While there is no required format for a MUN speech, a GSL speech can be broken down into three parts: a hook, a point, and a call to action. The hook grabs the attention of fellow delegates, the point gets the policy across that the speaker may want to see in the draft resolution, and the call to action mentions an action step based on the hook and point. It is important to remember the importance of body language while delivering a GSL speech, as it can help to convey the speakers message more effectively.
