The gyroscope in a smartphone provides a GUI that enables a user to select menus, etc., by tilting the phone. It allows a smartphone to trigger preset commands based on different motions, such as shaking the phone to lock it or undo written content. The gyroscope is responsible for the autorotation of the screen and view on the screen whenever a phone is rotated. The gyroscope can sense motion, including vertical and horizontal rotation, and can be used in mobile games to play games smoothly by simply moving the phone or even rotating around the gravity. The gyroscope works similarly to a small tuning fork, where tiny masses are vibrated, and when the phone is rotated, it produces a small Coriolis force that is measured.
