There is no animal called "haggis." Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish made from the innards of sheep, including heart, lungs, and liver, mixed with oats and spices and cooked inside the sheeps stomach. However, there is a fictional creature of Scottish folklore called the "wild haggis". It is said to be a small, rough-haired quadruped creature native to the Scottish Highlands, with legs on one side of its body that are both of different lengths, allowing it to run quickly around steep mountains and hillsides in only one direction. The wild haggis is comically claimed to be the source of haggis, but this is not true. The wild haggis is not a real animal, but rather a creature of tall tales and legend, similar to other fake animals like jackalopes and drop bears.
