A Haunting in Venice is a 2023 American mystery film produced and directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay by Michael Green, loosely based on the 1969 Agatha Christie novel Halloween Party. It is the third film in which Branagh reprises his role as the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, following Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022). The film is set in post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve and features the return of Poirot, who reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer. The ensemble cast includes Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Michelle Yeoh. The film received generally positive reviews from critics for its production design, performances, and Branaghs direction.
