HoReCa is an acronym that stands for Hotel/Restaurant/Catering and encompasses the entire food service industry. It includes everything that happens at places like restaurants, cafes, clubs, pubs, and other establishments where food and drinks are served to customers who go out for a meal, a party, or to meet friends. The term HoReCa is called by different names in different parts of the world. For example, in the U.S., the most common variant is "hospitality sector" and HoReCa is almost an unknown term. The situation is reversed in some European countries, mostly Belgium and Netherlands or Czechia, where HoReCa is prevalent. The Horeca sector is highly competitive, and its success derives from the constant search for impeccable quality of each of its products. The Horeca channel must not be confused with the large-scale distribution, which instead deals with the trade of food and drink and not with their administration. The Horeca sector is an important source of income for many families and keeps the wheels of the economy running smoothly.
