HRC stands for Human Rights Campaign, which is an American LGBTQ advocacy group. It is the largest LGBTQ political lobbying organization within the United States. The organization envisions a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, as well as community members who use different language to describe identity, are ensured equality and embraced as full members of society at home, at work, and in every community.
The Human Rights Campaign is an umbrella group of two separate non-profit organizations and a political action committee: the HRC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on research, advocacy, and education; the Human Rights Campaign, a 501(c)(4) organization that focuses on promoting LGBTQ rights through lobbying Congress and state and local officials for support of pro-LGBTQ bills, and mobilizing grassroots action amongst its members.
The HRC Foundation funds programs that enhance the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people and their families, as well as change hearts, minds, and systems across America and around the world. Programs funded in part or in full through the HRC Foundation include All Children - All Families, which is the only national program dedicated to LGBTQ+ inclusion in child welfare (foster care and adoption agencies) that provides resource development, technical assistance, and training, and Public Education & Research, which produces written resources and conducts original quantitative and qualitative research exploring the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people.
