Health-related fitness (HRF) is a multidimensional construct that includes several components, such as cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. HRF is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and can help improve overall well-being. Health practitioners face a difficult task in selecting tests that best reflect the HRF construct as defined in the literature. The core components of HRF include cardiovascular and muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. The difference between functional fitness (health-related) and fitness related to athletic ability (skill-related) is shown in Figure 14.1.
