The ICC Mens T20 World Cup is the international championship of Twenty20 cricket, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) . The tournament consists of 20 teams, with the top 12 teams from the previous tournament getting automatic qualifications while the other 8 teams are chosen through Regional Qualifiers. The event has generally been held every two years, but the 2020 edition of the tournament was postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then postponed again until 2022. The 2023 ICC Mens Cricket World Cup is the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, a quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament contested by mens national teams and organized by the ICC. The tournament is being hosted by India and started on October 5, 2023, and is scheduled to conclude on November 19, 2023. The tournament is taking place in ten different stadiums, in ten cities across India, and the first and second semi-finals will be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and Eden Gardens in Kolkata respectively, while the final will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Cricket World Cup is considered the "flagship event of the international cricket calendar" by the ICC and is one of the worlds most viewed sporting events. The first World Cup was organized in England in June 1975, with the first ODI cricket match having been played only four years earlier. The tournament is contested by ten teams, with the top seven teams in the ICC ODI Championship standings automatically qualifying for the tournament, and the remaining three spots being filled by teams from the Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
