The International English Olympiad (IEO) is an annual examination conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) in collaboration with the British Council. It is an English language and grammar competition for students ranging from classes 1 to 12. The IEO exam serves as a platform to discover and promote the innate talents of students in the English language by nurturing their creative and critical thinking abilities, as well as their logical reasoning skills. The content of the tests is designed to focus on communication and use of English language, rather than rote learning and correct grammar only. The IEO Olympiad is an effective tool for educators and parents looking to enhance the English language skills of their students and children.

The IEO exam is conducted in two levels, and the top 5% students in IEO level-1 Olympiad become eligible to appear for the IEO level-2 exam. The exam is conducted in a paper-and-pencil format, and students from all throughout the nation participate in the SOF-organized Olympiads in considerable numbers in a variety of categories. The various schools will deliver the admission cards.

The IEO is not to be confused with the International Economics Olympiad (IEO), which is an annual competition for high school students around the world in the areas of economics and finance.
