An induction program in college is a process that helps new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration. The program engages with new students as soon as they come into the institution, before regular classes start. The purpose of the induction program is to set the pace of fruitful teaching-learning experiences and to optimize the stay in college for a better and secure future. During the induction program, students are familiarized with the college and facilities, including clubs, societies, games, and any other activity that is usually organized in/by the college. Professors, deans, and other top management will tell students why it is an advantage to have taken admission to the college and how they can optimize their stay in the college. The program is designed to help students adjust to or acclimatize to their new roles and environment. The induction program is different from the orientation program, which is usually held for a couple of days and is designed to make new arrivals comfortable with the rules and regulations of the college.
