The cathode is a combination of manganese dioxide and carbon, and it is the electrode reduced by the electrochemical reaction. The separator is a non-woven, fibrous fabric that separates the electrodes. The anode is made of powdered zinc metal, and it is the electrode that is oxidized. The electrolyte is a potassium hydroxide solution in water, and it is the medium for the movement of ions within the cell. It carries the iconic current inside the battery. Finally, the collector is a brass pin that conducts the electricity from the inside of the battery to the outside of the battery.
