Internal storage refers to the storage space available in a device to keep system files, applications, and user files. It is any storage device that is internal (inside the case) and is not removable storage or external storage. Internal storage can be used to store private data on a device memory, such as in the case of Android internal storage. By default, saving and loading files to the internal storage are private to the application, and other applications will not have access to these files. When the user uninstalls the application, the internal stored files associated with the application are also removed.
Internal storage is different from external storage, which refers to storage devices that are external to the device, such as an inserted SD card. External storage is used as a free-for-all location that any app can access, so long as that app has the right permissions.
Internal storage is a fundamental element to keep in mind when choosing a new device, as the amount of space required for data and app storage, as well as for system operations, is continuously increasing. Good storage management is important for making sure you’ve always got the space you need when you need it.
