The Irani Cup, also known as the IDFC First Bank Irani Trophy due to sponsorship reasons, is a first-class cricket tournament organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) . It is played annually between the winners of the Ranji Trophy and a Rest of India cricket team, which includes players from Ranji teams of various states. The tournament was conceived during the 1959–60 season to mark the completion of 25 years of the Ranji Trophy championship and was named after the late BCCI president Zal R. Irani, who was associated with the BCCI from its inception in 1928 until his death in 1970.
The Irani Cup is played as a one-off match between the winners of the Ranji Trophy and the Rest of India team. The Rest of India team is made up of players from various Ranji teams, and the match is played in a first-class format. The tournament is one of the most prestigious first-class cricket tournaments in India. The most successful team in the tournament is the Rest of India team, with 30 titles to their name. The current champion is the Rest of India team, who won the 2022-23 season.
