KS3 stands for Key Stage 3, which is the legal term for the three years of schooling in maintained schools in England and Wales normally known as Year 7, Year 8, and Year 9. It is a part of the National Curriculum and is taught to children between the ages of 11 and 14, in the first three years of secondary school. During this stage, pupils are required to study 12 (or 13) compulsory subjects, including English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Modern foreign languages, Design and technology (DT), including cooking and nutrition, Art and design, Music, PE, Citizenship, Computing, and Welsh (in Wales).
