Lagos is a city in Nigeria, located on the coast of the Bight of Benin in the Gulf of Guinea. It is the most populous city in Lagos State, Nigeria, and the continent of Africa. Lagos is a major African financial center and is the economic hub of Lagos State and Nigeria at large. The city has been described as the cultural, financial, and entertainment capital of Africa, and is a significant influence on commerce, entertainment, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, and fashion. Lagos is the chief commercial, financial, and maritime nerve-center of Nigeria with seaports at Apapa, Tin Can Island, Roro Terminal Ports, and Ijora Container Terminal. Lagos is also Nigerias financial hub with all major banks having their headquarters in the city. Lagos is a melting pot of cultural traditions, with a lively growing arts scene, which is as much evident on the streets and in personal celebrations as in formal settings. Lagos is a major economic focal point in Nigeria, generating around 10% of the countrys GDP. Lagos is also the major information communications and telecommunications (ICT) hub of West Africa.
