In EA Sports UFC 4 game, "longevity" is a meter that determines the time remaining in a fighters career after each fight. In career mode, the fighters overall longevity is calculated once the fight is over, and the meter indicates the accumulated amount of damage the fighter has taken since he first stepped inside the octagon. Once the longevity meter is full, its time for the fighter to retire and call it a career. Therefore, if a fighter is able to minimize the damage he sustains in every fight, his career is likely to last longer. However, even if the player manages to take little to no damage for the majority of his fights, the damage level will still spike when he reaches the final four or five bouts of his career. Longevity is a result of how hard the fighter trains, and it produces wear and tear on the fighter that cannot be reversed. Taking punishment in fights decreases the fighters longevity. It should be noted that no matter how careful the player is, a fighters career in the game will not exceed 40 fights.
