Low humidity outside refers to a situation where there is a small amount of water vapor in the air. Humidity can be measured in several ways, but relative humidity (RH) is the most common. Relative humidity is the amount of moisture in the air relative to the maximum amount of moisture the air can hold at a given temperature. However, relative humidity can be misleading, and the dew point is a better measure of how "dry" or "humid" it will feel outside. The dew point is the temperature to which the air must be cooled in order for it to become saturated. The higher the dew point, the more moisture in the air, and the more humid it will feel outside. Humidity levels less than 30% are considered low, and it can lead to discomfort, breathing difficulties, and may even damage the foundation of a house. Low humidity can also cause dry skin, respiratory issues, and dehydration. When theres low relative humidity, we can feel much cooler than the actual temperature because our sweat evaporates easily, cooling us off.
