Mafia Mundeer was a group of rappers that was constituted of singers who are now some of the biggest names in Bollywood today, such as Honey Singh and Badshah. The group was originally made by Raftaar, Ikka, Lil Golu, and the two aforementioned superstars whom we have grown to consider as amongst the best in their genre today. However, in 2012, the group disbanded with all artists going their separate ways. According to Honey Singh, Mafia Mundeer wasnt a band, it was a platform. He clarified that Mundeer means a bunch of boys in Punjabi and Mafia is an ideology that he believes in for so many years. "It is a disciplined organisation. I dont believe in gangs. Gangsters kill on the streets; they fight on the streets. Mafia sits on tables in suits and they control the gangsters on the streets. They are organised criminals. ... I am not influenced by crime but by their ideology.".
Mafia Mundeer was not just a music band, it was an idea conceived by Honey Singh, the charismatic singer and music producer. Badshahs song Soda Whiskey was gaining popularity, and this is when Honey Singh approached him to work together. Honey Singh also approached Raftaar - who brought along Lil Golu and Ikka. The three were popular on Orkut for their music. Honey liked their music too, and thus the group was formed.
The group has been surrounded by controversies, and many theories and speculations exist about the reasons for the fallout between the members.
