Magic Erasers are made of melamine foam, which is a foam-like material consisting of a melamine-formaldehyde condensate. The foam is microporous and has a 3D network of very hard strands, which makes it work like extremely fine sandpaper, getting into tiny grooves and pits in the object being cleaned. The melamine foam has undergone heat compression to increase its durability, but there are no other added chemicals in the Magic Eraser. The foam is an abrasive cleaner that can remove otherwise "uncleanable" external markings from surfaces, such as crayon, marker pen, and grease from painted walls and wood finishings, plastic-adhering paints from treated wooden tables, and adhesive residue and grime from hubcaps.
