A master bedroom is a term used to describe the largest and most luxurious bedroom in a house or apartment, typically occupied by the person or persons who head the household. It is usually larger and more luxuriously decorated than other bedrooms, and may include a bed of a specific size (double, king or queen-sized), one or more dressers, a nightstand, one or more closets, and carpeting. A master bedroom may also be connected to a dedicated bathroom, often called an ensuite or master bathroom. The term "master bedroom" has been subject to debate in recent years due to its ties to slavery and the concept of dominance and ownership. However, some argue that the term simply refers to the size of the room and has nothing to do with racial connotations.
