Michael Flatley, the Irish-American dancer and musician, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors. Flatley retired from dancing in 2016 due to constant spinal, knee, foot, and rib pain but remains active in the music business. He has moved on to writing, directing, and producing. Flatley has previously had skin cancer after being diagnosed with a malignant melanoma in 2003, after it was spotted by a viewer on MTV. He has raised money for cancer research and has ties to the cancer charity Breakthrough, where he was an ambassador for an initiative in 2021 that created a county representing cancer survivors in Ireland. Flatley has also expanded into film, directing and starring in the 2018 spy thriller Blackbird. In the movie, he plays former MI6 operative Victor Blackley, who is drawn back into the world of espionage he had left behind.
