Eid Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Mawlid or Eid-e-Milad, is a festival celebrated by the Muslim community all over the world to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam. The festival is observed on the third month of the Islamic calendar, Rabi al-Awwal, and is celebrated on different days by the Shia and Sunni sects. Sunni scholars celebrate the day on the 12th day of Rabi ul-awwal, while some Shia scholars regard the 17th day of Rabi ul-awwal as the accepted date.
