Alabama is one of five states that has not adopted a state minimum wage law, so it adheres to the federal minimum wage of $7.25, which has not changed since 2009. All employers subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act must pay the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. There are a few exceptions to the minimum wage, including full-time students, certain disabled workers, and overtime workers. Because there are no Alabama state minimum wage laws, all employers and employees are subject to federal exemption standards set forth by the FLSA. As of now, there are no plans to raise the Alabama minimum wage.
