The minimum wage in Missouri for 2023 is $12.00 per hour. This is the result of Proposition B, which was approved by Missouri voters on November 6, 2018, and gradually increased the minimum wage from $7.85 to $12 over a five-year period. All private businesses are required to pay at a minimum, the $12.00 hourly rate, except retail and service businesses whose gross annual sales are less than $500,000. Tipped employees must be paid at least half of the current minimum wage, which is $6.00 per hour, but their total compensation must be at least $12.00 per hour. Employers are required to post a summary of the law and regulations in a conspicuous and accessible place at the business.
