As of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Rhode Island is $13.00 per hour. This is set to increase to $14.00 per hour on January 1, 2024, and $15.00 per hour on January 1, 2025. There are some exceptions to the minimum wage, such as for full-time students working in certain industries and tipped workers. Tipped workers can be paid a minimum of $3.89 per hour, but their earnings including tips must add up to the regular minimum wage of $13 per hour. If their wages plus tips don’t add up to the regular minimum wage, their employer is required to pay them the difference.
