Motilium is used primarily for treating nausea and vomiting. It contains the active ingredient domperidone, which is an antiemetic and prokinetic medicine. Motilium works by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain that causes nausea and vomiting, and it also increases the movement or contractions of the stomach and intestines to help food move more easily through the stomach. It is indicated for symptoms related to nausea, vomiting, and discomfort caused by a slow-moving stomach known as gastroparesis, which includes symptoms such as feeling too full, bloated after meals, loss of appetite, and indigestion. Motilium is used in adults and children (with specific dosing for children and infants) but should be used under medical guidance especially in cases of liver or kidney impairment.
