Movember is an annual event that takes place during the month of November to raise awareness of mens health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mens suicide. The event involves growing mustaches, and it is a portmanteau of the Australian-English words "mustache" and "November". The Movember Foundation charity has run Movember events since 2004 to raise awareness and funds for mens health issues in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Spain, the United Kingdom, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan, and the United States. The foundation has raised over $837 million and funded over 1,200 projects in more than 20 countries. The key areas of focus for Movember are prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. Men and women can participate in Movember by growing a mustache, moving, or hosting an event. The Movember Foundation has created a movement of over 5 million supporters across the world, funding more than 1,200 innovative mens health projects across more than 20 countries. Prostate Cancer UK is the main beneficiary of the Movember campaign.
