NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of India and under the Department of Space. It was established on March 6, 2019, under the administrative control of the Department of Space (DoS) and the Company Act 2013. NSIL is the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and is responsible for producing, assembling, and integrating the launch vehicle with the help of industry consortium. The main objective of NSIL is to scale up private sector participation in Indian space programs. NSIL enables Indian industries to take up high technology space-related activities and is also responsible for promotion and commercial exploitation of the products and services emanating from the Indian space program. NSILs major business areas include building launch vehicles and satellites, providing launch services for global satellite customers on-board ISROs launch vehicles, providing satellite-based services through its fleet of in-orbit communication satellites, mission support services, and transfer of ISRO developed technologies.
