Nexus Blitz is a temporary game mode in League of Legends that is released occasionally for players around big events and launches. It is a 5v5 game mode that consists of 2 Junglers and 3 laners, with two players in the bottom lane and one player in the mid lane. The game mode features a smaller map with several smaller minigames, such as Scuttle Racing, Bardle Royale, and URF Deathmatch. Players can collect powerful bonuses to aid them in the next fights, such as Summoner Spell haste, additional mana regeneration, bonus magic damage, reduced recall timers, empowered recalls, home guards, and more XP. The game mode lasts no longer than 20 minutes, with games generally lasting around 15 minutes, but the game goes into “Sudden Death” at 18 minutes, forcing the game to end shortly afterwards. The Nexus Blitz is intended to be a fun game mode where players have fun, but some players take the game far too seriously, so players should have fun while it’s out, but not get burned out grinding games on it. Riot Games first introduced Nexus Blitz in 2018, and it was available for alpha testing on live servers. It returned to League of Legends in 2023 as part of the ongoing League of Legends Worlds 2023 celebrations, and it will be available until November 27, 2023.
