The Nithari Kand refers to the 2006 Noida serial murders that occurred in the house of businessman Moninder Singh Pandher in Sector-31, Noida near Nithari village, Uttar Pradesh, India between 2005 and 2006. The case involved the commission of heinous crimes like sexual abuse, murder, cannibalism, and attempted necrophilia. Surinder Koli, who worked as a domestic help at Moninder Singh Pandhers house, was convicted in 10 out of the 16 cases against him and was sentenced to death. Moninder Singh Pandher was convicted in two out of the five cases against him. However, in 2023, the Allahabad High Court acquitted both of them citing lack of evidence. The case grabbed headlines in media due to its brutal and rare nature of crimes. The murders came to light in 2006 after body parts and childrens clothing were found inside a sewer in front of Moninder Singh Pandhers house in a wealthy suburb of the capital called Noida. At least 19 young women and children had been raped, killed, and dismembered.
