NSIL stands for NewSpace India Limited, which is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of India and under the Department of Space. NSIL is responsible for producing, assembling, and integrating the launch vehicle with the help of industry consortium. It was established on March 6, 2019, under the administrative control of the Department of Space (DoS) and the Company Act 2013. The main objective of NSIL is to scale up private sector participation in Indian space programs. NSIL is the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with the primary responsibility of enabling Indian industries to take up high-technology space-related activities and is also responsible for promotion and commercial exploitation of the products and services emanating from the Indian space program. The major business areas of NSIL include building launch vehicles through Indian Industry, providing launch services to global satellite customers on board SSLV, PSLV, GSLV, and GSLV MkIII launchers, and transferring technologies developed by DoS/ISRO to Indian industries.
