An OFC appointment, or Offsite Facilitation Center appointment, is a required step in the US visa application process for most applicants. OFCs were established by the US State Department to simplify and speed up visa processing times. During an OFC appointment, applicants are required to present all official documents and have their biometrics (fingerprints) and visa photograph taken. OFC appointments take place at visa application centers (VACs) before the visa interview with a US consular officer. The DS-160 confirmation page is stamped after giving biometrics and a photograph. OFC appointments are legally required for most visa applicants, but certain individuals may not be required to attend this appointment and qualify for the Drop Box program. Applicants should schedule their OFC appointment before their visa interview appointment date.
