Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) is a nonprofit anti-sex trafficking organization based in the United States that was founded in 2013 by Tim Ballard. The organizations mission is to rescue children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation around the world. O.U.R. leads the fight against child sex trafficking and sexual exploitation by going to the darkest corners of the world to assist in rescuing children from slavery and ensuring their safety. The organization has conducted multiple sting operations, some outside the United States, and donated technological and monetary resources to law-enforcement agencies that combat sex trafficking. O.U.R. has three bold strategies that make up its Global Rescue and Recovery solution:
- Rescue: O.U.R. works with law enforcement to rescue children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
- Aftercare: O.U.R. provides survivors with the necessary resources to heal and recover from their trauma.
- Prevention: O.U.R. works to prevent sex trafficking and sexual exploitation by raising awareness and providing specialized tools for law enforcement.
O.U.R. has been criticized for its conduct during sting operations and has been accused of exaggerating its impact. However, the organization continues to fight against sex trafficking and sexual exploitation by partnering with law enforcement agencies and providing specialized tools to prevent and prosecute crimes against children. Anyone can join the fight against sex trafficking and sexual exploitation by attending an event near them, raising awareness on social media, or making a donation to O.U.R. .
