An ordinary passport is a type of passport issued to citizens of a country for international travel. In the United States, it is also referred to as a tourist passport and is issued to American citizens who travel for study, work, business, and other civilian purposes. The ordinary passport has a blue cover and comes standard with 28 visa pages. It is valid for 10 years for applicants 16 years of age or older and 5 years when issued to a minor under the age of 16. To obtain an ordinary passport, applicants must provide original or certified proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate/naturalization certificate) and valid proof of identification along with a recent passport size photograph.
