Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. It is a multidisciplinary field that draws from psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, and economics. The study of organizational behavior includes areas of research dedicated to improving job performance, increasing job satisfaction, promoting innovation, and encouraging leadership.

Organizational behavior deals with employee attitudes and feelings, including job satisfaction, organizational commitment, job involvement, and emotional labor. Job satisfaction reflects the feelings an employee has about his or her job or facets of the job, such as pay or supervision. Organizational commitment represents the extent to which employees feel attached to their organization.

Organizational behavior is important because it can help organizations increase employee performance, while also creating a positive working environment. When a strong model of OB is in place, employees can understand themselves better and know how they can best flourish inside an organization. And managers are better able to predict how employees might react under differing circumstances and adjust accordingly.
