An output device is any piece of computer hardware that converts information or data into a human-perceptible form or, historically, into a physical machine-readable form for use with other non-computerized equipment. Output devices can be categorized into three types: visual, data, and sound. Here are some examples of output devices:

Visual:

  • Monitor: displays the processed data like text, images, and videos.
  • Projector: displays the output on a larger screen.
  • Television: displays the output on a larger screen.

Data:

  • Printer: prints the output on paper.
  • Plotter: draws the output on paper.
  • Braille printer: prints the output in Braille format.

Sound:

  • Speaker: produces sound through an oscillating transducer called a driver.
  • Headphones: produces sound that can only be heard by the person wearing them.
  • Earphones: produces sound that can only be heard by the person wearing them.

Output devices convert the computer data to human-understandable form. We give input to the computer using input devices, and the computer performs operations on the data and displays the output to the user using the output device.
