Oxy Astros is a sponsorship deal between the Houston Astros and Occidental Petroleum Corporation, commonly known as Oxy. As part of the deal, the Oxy logo is featured on the Astros jersey sleeve throughout the regular season and any postseason games for the next seven seasons. The Astros players will wear a red, white, and blue Oxy logo for nearly every game of the year, except for two games where the logo will be gold to match the coloring of the 2022 World Series champions’ uniforms. The partnership builds on the relationship that both organizations formed in 2013 rooted in shared values, a passion for excellence, and a strong commitment to community service throughout the Houston area. However, the Astros decision to partner with Oxy has sparked controversy among fans and critics alike due to the companys environmental record, particularly its involvement in hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," a controversial method of extracting natural gas from shale rock formations. Despite the backlash, the Astros defended their decision to partner with Oxy.
