PM SHRI (Schools for Rising India) is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India aimed at upgrading schools across India. The scheme was approved by the Cabinet on September 7, 2022, and will be implemented with a total project cost of Rs. 27360 crore for the period of five years from year 2022-23 to 2026. The objective of the scheme is to develop more than 14500 schools across India.
The scheme will focus on improving the quality of education in schools by providing better infrastructure, curriculum, and digital resources. The scheme will also provide training to teachers to enhance their skills and improve the quality of teaching. The scheme will be implemented in a phased manner, with priority given to schools in rural and remote areas.
PM Modi announced the scheme on Teachers Day and released the first installment of funds under the PM SHRI scheme at Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam. The scheme is expected to benefit millions of students across India and improve the quality of education in the country.
