PPA stands for Place of Primary Assignment. It is the second stage of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service year after the three weeks spent on various orientation camps in the country. During this stage, corps members are expected to render selfless service with dedication for a year of active service to their country. The PPA is where corps members are posted to work and serve their country.
Corps members can be posted to several places, including schools, hospitals, local governments, government ministries, and parastatals, and even private firms and banks on special occasions. If a corps member is rejected by their PPA, NYSC through their Local Inspector (LI) or Zonal Inspector (ZI) would give them another posting letter to a different PPA. To reduce the chances of rejection, corps members can look around for other PPAs and take their letter of rejection to the secretariat. They can then submit it to the Local Government Inspector or the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO), who will ask if they have any PPA in mind. If they don’t, they will be posted to another PPA by the LI or ZI.
