Premium Tatkal is a ticket booking quota introduced by the Indian Railways where a few seats are reserved with dynamic fare pricing for passengers. The Premium Tatkal booking charges vary from that of the usual Tatkal tickets, and the fare is twice that of the usual Tatkal ticket charges. The Premium Tatkal quota is a new quota introduced by the Indian Railways, and it is opened by 10.00 AM for AC classes and 11.00 AM for non-AC classes. The Premium Tatkal ticket opening time is the same as that of the Tatkal scheme, but users may find tickets under Premium Tatkal even after a few hours of the opening time, whereas normal Tatkal tickets get exhausted within a few minutes.

Here are some key features of the Premium Tatkal quota:

  • Dynamic fare stands for the fare component, which may be increased with subsequent bookings.
  • Premium Tatkal tickets can be purchased only through the IRCTC website, whereas Tatkal tickets can be procured through online sources like Paytm and also at the railway ticket counters.
  • Premium Tatkal tickets can be reserved in advance of one day before the journey date, and users can book only E-ticket.
  • Agents will not be allowed to book tickets in this quota, and dynamic fare shall be charged for Confirm Passengers.
  • RAC/Waitlist Ticket Booking is not allowed, and only E-tickets will be permitted for booking. I-ticket Booking is not allowed with this Quota, and no concession shall be applicable in this Quota. Child passengers will be charged with Full Fare, and the identity card number of the prescribed proof of identity is required at the time of booking.
  • At least one passenger should travel with his/her ID card in original, which was used at the time of booking. No refund is given to passengers in case of cancellation of confirm PT quota ticket. All rules for Tatkal quota booking over the internet are applicable to Premium Tatkal quota also.
