Profile password is an additional layer of security provided by State Bank of India (SBI) to its customers for their accounts. Whenever a customer accesses any functionality in the Profile tab, they need to authenticate themselves with their Profile Password. For example, while setting a mobile number, adding a third party, defining limits for DD and third party transactions, and even while changing the login password, the profile password is required. The profile password is also required to enable high security to accounts and to issue a demand draft.

To set the profile password, a customer must mandatorily set it when they log in to the Internet banking website for the first time. The profile password must be different from the login password and should consist of a combination of numbers, letters, and special characters/images so that it remains difficult to crack. The customer will be asked to select a hint question and give an answer to the same. If a customer forgets their profile password, they can reset it themselves by authenticating themselves with the hint question and answer that they had set for the Profile password or through ATM Debit card validation. If they dont remember the hint question or answer and they dont have the ATM debit card, they can approach their branch to reset the password.

In summary, the profile password is an additional layer of security provided by SBI to its customers for their accounts. It is required to access any functionality in the Profile tab and to enable high security to accounts and to issue a demand draft.
