A PTA meeting is a Parent Teacher Association meeting, which is an organization with a mission to make the school a better place for children to learn. PTAs bring together parents, teachers, and children to raise funds and strengthen the school community. The meetings are usually held to discuss issues that are on parents minds, share ideas, concerns, and exchange experiences. PTAs encourage parents to be actively engaged in their childrens education by providing opportunities for parents to take part in school activities, attend meetings, and collaborate with teachers and administrators. The meetings can take the form of face-to-face meetings in which parents and teachers meet in person, or electronic meetings that are conducted over the phone or via video conferencing systems like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet. The difference between parent–teacher conferences and PTA meetings is that the former focus on students academic progress while the latter organize more extra-curricular activities. PTAs can also provide a powerful mediating function, providing a neutral forum for resolving conflicts that sometimes occur in schools around controversial issues.
